The Seagull School at Mauna Lani is located on the Mauna Lani Resort property on the Kohala Coast. The beautifully landscaped facility was planned and designed from the ground up specifically for young children.
The school is licensed for 132 children by the State of Hawaii and also has the elite distinction of being accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
The school opened in September 1990, and accommodates children ages 2 to 5 years in a variety of developmentally appropriate programs. Elementary school-aged children are also welcome for holiday and summer programs.
All children from the community are welcome. You do not need to be an employee of the Mauna Lani Resort or hotels to enroll your child. Children in diapers are also welcome.
The school has created an environment that nurtures children with sound educational programs, qualified teachers and pleasant surroundings conducive to learning. The emergent curriculum is based on the latest research in early education.
Our location affords us the benefits of being able to take short excursions to the beaches and other attractions on the resort property. Frequent excursions away from the center are also planned as part of the curriculum, as well as, on campus special events with musicians, artists and storytellers. All are very hands-on, fun and educational.
Afternoon snacks are provided by the school. Children bring lunch from home and eat together family style.
The school is open from 6:30 am to 6:00 pm. Parents and visitors are always welcome at the school and don't need an appointment.
